How to Set Up and Use TMetric MCP with Claude

Integrating TMetric with Claude via the Model Context Protocol (MCP) enables you to query and analyze your time-tracking data in real time using natural language.

The TMetric MCP Server uses the open MCP standard to let Claude connect to and interact with your TMetric account directly during a conversation. Once connected, you can ask Claude questions in plain language and get quick insights and summaries from your TMetric data.

For example, you can ask Claude questions like “How much billable vs. non-billable time did we spend on our clients this quarter?” or “Which time entries are still uninvoiced?” and get data-driven answers to help you make decisions and take action.

How to Connect TMetric to Claude

How to Use TMetric with Claude

To see how TMetric and Claude can work together to speed up your workflow, here are a couple of examples of prompts and the answers you’ll get from Claude.

Example 1

Prompt: How much billable vs. non-billable time did we spend on our clients this quarter?

Answer: This quarter, the team logged about 369 hours total, 82% billable. Acme Corp: 142h 30m billable, 8h 15m non-billable. Northwind Ltd: 96h billable, 22h 40m non-billable. Globex Inc: 64h 20m billable, 4h 10m non-billable. Internal work: 31h 15m, all non-billable.

Example 2

Prompt: Which time entries are still uninvoiced?

Answer: You have 18 uninvoiced time entries totaling 42h 15m. Most are on Northwind Ltd (26h 30m across 9 entries, Jul 10–Aug 5) and Globex Inc (15h 45m across 7 entries, Aug 1–Aug 18), with 2 smaller entries (2h 00m) on Acme Corp from last week.

Example 3

Prompt: How much time did I track this week?

Answer: This week (Mon Aug 17 – Sun Aug 23, 2026), you've tracked 40 hours, — logged against the "Website" project for client "Designer," and marked billable.

Example 4

Prompt: Which projects were most profitable last quarter?

Answer: Last quarter, Acme Corp was the most profitable project at $18,400 (72% margin), followed by Globex Inc at $11,200 (65% margin) and Northwind Ltd at $6,800 (41% margin). Northwind's lower margin was mostly due to higher non-billable hours relative to revenue. Want a full breakdown by cost vs. revenue for any of these?

Example 5

Prompt: Show me the team's timesheets for this week.

Answer: The team logged 156h 30m total this week (Aug 17–21) across 6 members. Maria: 38h 00m, John: 32h 15m, Elena: 30h 00m, Jack: 28h 45m, Anna: 27h 30m — and 5 pending entries still awaiting approval (mostly Friday). Two members, John and Jack, are under their scheduled 40h, likely due to Monday's holiday. Want me to list who's still missing entries or send approval reminders?
