Long-running Timer

What should you do if you worked the entire day and forgot to stop the timer? How can you fix a long-running timer in the web and desktop apps? You’ll find the answers to these questions here.

A long-running timer dialog appears in both the web and desktop apps when a timer has been running for more than 12 hours without being stopped or reset. This feature helps prevent time-tracking errors, improve accuracy, and simplify corrections.

The dialog prompts you to correct the timer to continue tracking time.

Note: When fixing a timer, make sure to use the correct time format for tracking. For the 24-hour format, use, for example, 18:30. For the 12-hour format, use 6:30 AM or 6:30 PM.

To fix a long-running timer in the web app

1. In the Timer is running longer than 12 hours alert, find the Finished at field.

2. Check the day you actually stopped working, usually the previous workday.

3. Enter the time you finished working. If you use the 12-hour time format for tracking, ensure you select the correct AM/PM option.

4. Click the Fix Timer button. You can now continue tracking time and editing time entries.

Note: The Delete Timer button removes the time entry entirely. Use this if the timer was started by mistake.
